He started his first musical studies in 1990 with the group "Leprechaun" by getting together with Eray Artan and Melih Rona from the "Hush" group. After this short period of work, Umay Gedikoğlu made his real debut with the pop rock album Umay Umay, whose music and lyrics were written by Barlas Erinç.

In addition to his musical works, Umay Umay also has five books. He dedicates his books to homosexuals. He told about Kurds, homosexuals, revolutionaries and Mardin. He also wrote a column for BirGün Pazar for a period. He sang the song "Kalbim Acıdı" on top of Kazım Koyuncu's song "Gyuli Çkimi". Apart from his own albums, he also took part in the mixed album Kent Poets with the song "Şeker Anne".
