Okan Buruk was born on October 19, 1973 in Istanbul, he is a former Turkish football player who played in the midfield.
He first played in a local club in Büyükçekmece. Since both of his brothers are football players, he grew up with football and entered the infrastructure of Galatasaray at the age of 11.
He was the captain of the Youth National Team, which became the European Junior Champion in 1992.
Three months before the 2001 Championship match, he signed an agreement with Italy's Inter Milan Club. It was shown as one of the biggest factors in losing the championship.
He did not have much chance to play in Internazionale, where he played for 3 seasons, and was transferred to Beşiktaş in the 2004-2005 season.
On July 11, 2006, he signed a blank contract and returned to his old club Galatasaray.
At the end of the 2009-10 season, he decided to quit football. After this decision, he left the game with Emre Aşık in the 9th minute of the match played against the Czech Republic with the Turkish jersey on 19 May and made his jubilee.
As of 2022, he continues his sports career as the Technical Director of Galatasaray.
