Emel Müftüoğlu

Emel Müftüoğlu was born on October 14, 1961 in İzmir. He is a pop singer and actor.

Emel, whose mother is a member of the Merdivenci family and originally from Afyonkarahisar, completed her primary and secondary education in different cities because her father was a soldier. Before he became famous, he worked for years as Afyonkarahisar TEK official.

In 1985, he took his first step into his professional music career by winning the first prize in the music competition opened by Güneş Newspaper. He decided to form a duo with Erdal Çelik, who came second in the same competition. Emel-Erdal duo released two albums from ART, founded by Atilla Özdemiroğlu, named "Öyle Bir Aşk" in 1985 and "Alaturka Benim Canım" in 1988.

It was in 1989 that Emel ended her musical partnership with Erdal and started her solo career.

He signed with Şahin Özer Plak and achieved a good sales figure with his album "Karlar Dusser", which was released on September 25, 1990 from this music production company. One of the songs in the album "Which of us?" Except for the Greek songs, Turkish lyrics were written. Then came the second album "Faka Bastin", which was released on September 5, 1992. It did not look like the success of the first album and reached larger sales figures. Sinan Çetin directed the music video for the song of the same name of "Faka Bastın", the first album to have a billboard in the history of music. Until that year, television directors were always shooting the clips. It was the first time that a film director appeared before the audience with a clip. "Faka Bastin" was a Scheherazade song. Two years later, on May 12, 1994, his third solo album Emel'ce was released. The photos and image of this album were made in France. The songs "I'm Scared", "Deli Et Beni", "Enough" and "Play Me" became hits. The clip "I'm afraid" was shot with İlknur Bozkurt and covered the theme of lesbianism. This was a huge undertaking for the Turkey of that time.

One year after "Emel'ce", on January 20, 1995, Emel again broke new ground. Emel, who met Sezen Aksu and took two songs from her and made her single "Freedom", signed a single that was the best-selling ever, even better than the albums. In the "Euro Video Grand Prix", a video clip competition organized by MTV Europe between countries, the video clip of Abdullah Oğuz's "Freestyle", which won the right to participate in the final by beating the rope among three candidates from Turkey, became the seventh in the competition with 51 points among 16 countries [3]. Celebrities such as Deniz Arcak and Seray Sever also took part in the clip.

In December 1995, Emel appeared before her fans with the album "Ruhun Duymaz", produced by Sezen Aksu and arranged by Onno Tunç and Murat Yeter. Despite the hit songs "Bir Ümit Doğmaz Mi?", "Her Gece" and the music of Ercan Saatçi's "Injury Benefit", which was later performed by Saatçi, the album, which had a circulation of less than 150,000, was a big disappointment.

After the album "Ruhun Duymaz", "Bana Special" was released on 28 May 1998. The album also included songs by commentators such as Nazan Öncel and Bendeniz. While "Special for Me" was an album that fans never got tired of listening to, the songs of Şehrazat in the album were a bit in the background.

Two years later, Emel said hello with another interesting album. "Miracle" was released in March 2000. Sezen Aksu's song "Come, Let's Enter Sinaha" became a rosewood for all languages. There were firsts in this album as well. Emel, who took songs from Serdar Ortaç and Doğuş, sang "Kal Benimle" and "Çal Beni" again from the songs from her previous albums, and also sang a duet with the artist's daughter Çağrı in "Kal Benimle". While the clip of the song "Miracle" by Sezen Aksu was broadcast on MTV, the album of the same name attracted attention as it was the first CD to be promoted by downloading internet access in Turkey. In addition, in 2000, Emel continued to work not only as a performer, but also as the art director of pop music artists of Özer Plak. Ferda Anıl Yarkın started to take care of everything himself, from the cassette covers of albums such as "I'm Wounded", Deniz Seki "I Tell", Murat Başaran "A Little Bit of Tip", Fulden Uras "Someone Comes" to promotional (television, radio, press) works.

The album "Arabesque" was released on November 22, 2002. Almost all of the songs in this album, which was released quietly, belonged to the Alper Narman-Fettah Can duo discovered by Emel. This duo later sang to a lot of names. Sezen Aksu's song "İllallah", included in the album, became one of the most played songs on the radios, along with "Kader".

In fact, on December 15, 2004, when she wanted to release a single, Emel turned this project into an album at Sezen Aksu's insistence. "Summer Came" and "Forcing" were given to the radios as singles and played all summer long, but the album was released as the new year was approaching. Produced by Sezen Aksu, "Very Shame" became an album that brought together Müftüoğlu's close friends. Names such as Izel, Deniz Seki and Işın Karaca took part in the vocals of the album.

Müftüoğlu's "Girls to Have Fun" EP released on May 25, 2007 was the subject of news in many newspapers. The EP also featured songs by Sezen Aksu, a song by Sude Demir, the Eda-Metin Özülkü couple and Sıla Gençoğlu, who was the vocalist for Kenan Doğulu.

In 2016, he released the Best Of album "Emel ile Re".

TV shows, series, movies:

Emel first played in the TV series "Şen Widows", directed by Funda Aras and written by Necef Uğurlu, which was broadcast on Star TV in 1991. He made his next acting debut in the movie "Mr. E" written and directed by Sinan Çetin in 1995.

In 2003, "Ask Olsun", in which he played the leading role with Talat Bulut, began to be broadcast on Kanal D. The series, directed by Yasemin Türkmenli and written by Mustafa Uğur Yağcıoğlu, reached high ratings. When the series was over, there was still a great interest in the series and its fans were constantly asking "Why is it over?" she asked.

Emel last starred in the TV series "Silent Night", directed by Kartal Çidamlı and Ersoy Güler and written by İnci Uluçay, which was discontinued after it was broadcast on Show TV for a short time in 2005.

Apart from these, he made the TV programs Emelce on TRT, ATV, TV8 and 360 TV, Emel Içgüdü on Kanal D, Emelce Sabahlar with İdil Çeliker on TGRT and Double Roasted with Şafak Sezer in the summer of 2008. In September 2004, she presented the Womanca Wheel of Fortune program in the mornings with Deniz Seki, but the program was short-lived.

He took the lead role with Tamer Karadağlı in the Son Ağa series broadcast on Star TV. He played the leading role in the TV series "Zoraki President" with Ahmet Uğurlu on TRT. Since September 2013, he took a role in the TV series "Children Do Not Hear" on FOX.
