Defne Joy Foster, the daughter of her Turkish mother Hatice Nayman and NATO officer Steve Foster from the USA, was born at Adana Incirlik Air Base on September 2, 1975. After the couple's divorce, Foster's father left for his hometown Alabama. He stayed with his mother. He attended secondary school in İzmir Alsancak Secondary School. He graduated from Izmir Fatih High School in 1992 and then did not continue his education.
